The Beamers
The Beamers is a Mid-Sussex folk and pop band which had its genesis about three years ago and which has developed a dual role of being available for commercial and private functions for a fee whilst delighting in offering its services free of charge to charities and good causes. Musical accompaniment comes from rhythm and bass guitars, keyboard and penny whistles. The four members take well known and much loved classic songs and give them their own interpretation, with strong harmonies and only a little percussion, where appropriate.
Why
The Name?
When
Philip Purdie and John Sandford first formed the group as a duo, they called themselves
The Beamers because, at that time, they both owned white five series
BMW's. John now has an Astra and Philip, a Civic, and, come to
think of it, the “Astra Civics” has a good ring to it too!
